WHAT HAPPENED?
Per Ben Jacobs of , Liverpool are in advanced talks to land Wright from Salford. The 17-year-old has also attracted interest from Manchester City, and scored over 40 goals at academy level last season. He also played against City in the FA Cup.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The Reds are understood to be attempting to negotiate a six-figure fee for Wright, and are the only club in advanced negotiations to sign the forward, despite rival interest. Salford, of course, are now owned by a consortium led by Manchester United legends Beckham and Neville; they may be loathe to sell to the Reds, but it remains to be seen if they would willingly block his path.
